House Call – Copenhagen

There's no place like gnome.

Marianna and I have been chatting about outdoor spaces (will keep you posted on this, such exciting things in the pipeline at Klooftique) and I was so inspired by the way the owner of this home in Copenhagen has set out his courtyard (see below). This space functions perfectly as an extension of the indoor living area – an ideal, so-called green room – and the look is achievable in a flash. Just whip those gorgeous cushions outside and plonk them on weather-proof daybed frames when the sun comes out, add a few necessities and you’ve got yourself a groovy little day den.

Such a great space – love those Missoni cushions....

View from the deck into the living area.

The rest of the house is just as inviting. A 19th century building with its gracious bones restored and revealed, juxtaposed with a lustworthy collection of iconic mid-20th century modern furniture. A winning combination, take a look.

Ceiling rosette? Check. Extra wide timber floorboards? Check. Cool modern furniture? Check!

Well, whadda ya know? An Achille Castiglioni Arco floor lamp in the kitchen.

Autobahn Bergère sofa next to the stove. Brave.

A Missoni rug pops on painted white floorboards

Love the timber shower bench.

These stunning wall tiles by Made a Mano are made from lava stone mined from Mount Etna.

Brights on white, my all-time favourite colour combo

The home-built day bed frame is such a good idea...

Later, Julia
